IIM Calcutta MBA

The feat of achieving 100% summer campus placement was repeated by IIM Calcutta for its 56th batch. It has 480 students in its MBA program and all of them participated in the campus placement drive. About 136 firms participated in the drive and offered close to 200 roles to the batch of 2021.


Many students used the “Dream” options that permitted them to receive multiple employment offers from the most sought-after recruiters. 43.2% of the total offers came from finance and consulting firms. Several organizations hired for various international roles. Some of them include Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank, Barclays, Hexaware.

Interns were hired by several Finance majors, namely, Brookfield, Macquarie, Gaja Capital, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Barclays, Deutsche Bank, BPEA, Edelweiss, DE Shaw and Avendus. The largest recruiters in the Banking and Finance sector was Citibank (15). It was followed by Goldman Sachs (11). Many companies from the sector participated in the campus placement drive at IIM Calcutta for the first time. They were NIIF, Indigrid, White Oak Capital Management among others.

The highest number of offers was given by the consulting sector. Consulting companies include McKinsey, Bain, BCG, ATK, KPMG, Mastercard and EY. Among these, the largest recruiters were BCG and Accenture Strategy with 19 and 17 interns, respectively.

IIM Calcutta MBA 35% of the total pie of recruitment was bagged by Sales & Marketing and General Management domain. IIM Calcutta’s summer campus placement drive saw leadership roles being offered to the students by companies like Mahindra & Mahindra, TAS, ABG, RPG, Godrej, and RIL. Various FMCG conglomerates such as HUL, P&G, Nestle, ITC, Johnson & Johnson, AB InBev, Mondelēz, Coca-Cola, Asian Paints, Dabur, RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group also participated in the campus drive. The largest recruiter in the sector was HUL with 12 offers.

20% of the total interns recruited were hired by Product Management, Operations, and the E-commerce sector. The largest recruiters of interns were Microsoft and Amazon with 12 and 20 interns, respectively. Other chief companies include Adobe, Media.Net, Salesforce, Udaan, Cloudtail, Flipkart, Uber, Ola, and Oyo.

Many new companies were allowed to participate in the campus placement drive at IIM Calcutta to cater to the increased batch size and offer several options to the students. A rise of 13.33% was seen in the number of participating firms, which included first-timers like Puma, Emami, Cochlear, Atha Group, Valuelabs, Apparel Group.

CDPO Chairperson Prof. Abhishek Goel said, “The results this year speak volumes of our small team’s capabilities. The speed at which we can get about 500 internship offers is phenomenal and unprecedented. That we can do this by following due processes in a transparent manner is very satisfying.”
