Minority Students Get Scholarships

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led BJP government recently made an announcement about scholarships being provided to five crore students over the period of next five years.

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, the minority affairs minister mentioned that the “Padho Badho” campaign will be launched across the country to encourage education. The recent scholarship announcement is going to change the lives of a number of minority students.

The Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi mentioned on Tuesday that Pre-matric, post-matric, and merit-cum-means are some of the scholarships provided to the minority community students, that includes 50 percent of girls. The Union minister also was the chairperson at the 112th governing body and 65th general body meeting of the Maulana Azad Education Foundation. Mr. Naqvi also mentioned that the Narendra Modi led BJP government has definitely brought a breath of fresh air by removing the communalism and appeasement from the politics.

The scholarship not only provides an opportunity for higher education it also helps the girls from the minority community to be linked back to education and employment by the help of bridge courses through its link to a number of prestigious educational institutions of the country. Hindi, English, mathematics, science, and computer are some of the mainstream subjects that some of the Madrassa teachers would be trained in. The program is set to be launched in the next month.

Mr. Naqvi also mentioned that there was going to be a number of constructions that were to begin under the Pradhanmantri Jan Vikas Karyakram which are schools, colleges, girls hostels, polytechnics, and gurukul. These constructions are planned in the areas which lack educational institutions. Girls from the minority community fail to get educated due to social and economic reasons and the “Pado-Badho” campaign helps such girl children to get an education.

Street plays, short films, and cultural programs are a part of the campaign. The campaign itself focuses on girls from the minority background and is going to begin the first phase soon. Mr. Naqvi also mentioned that there will be free coaching for various banking, railways, administrative, and various other competitive services.

These services are going to be provided to the economically week minority communities like Christians, Muslims, Jains, Sikhs, Buddhists, and Parsis making it a truly ‘sab ka saath, sab ka vikas and sab ka vishvaas government’.

While most of the governments / political parties have been promising various benefit schemes to different communities over the last few decades, the ‘Padho-Badho’ campaign seems to truly concentrate on the minority community by providing the scholarship and education thereby providing a solid foundation of education, empowerment, and employment to the minorities.

The higher education and scholarship will definitely open doors to a set of people in the country that they never knew existed. By empowering the girls of the minority background and encouraging them to continue their education and get employed the government has given them a taste of freedom which has never been experienced by the minorities. While this is a welcome change there is still the challenge of making it all happen. But if it does happen then clearly the day when reservation will be removed from India is not very far and that is truly going to make India a developed nation.
