The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way the world operates.  Remote is the new normal.  Educational institutes, IT companies, and other offices are working towards normalizing the remote login and setting new KPI’s accordingly. The PM eVidya program will be launched immediately to enable multi-mode access to digital education.  The program consists of 12 DTH channels that cater to classes  1 to 12.

Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman made a five-stage announcement of Rs. 20-lakh crore COVID -19 packages.  While the first four announcements concentrated on the division of the relief package to various sectors.  The last announcement made informed about the steps taken to boost the online education system during the lockdown.

Apart from this the eVidya program also permits the top 100 universities to begin their online courses by the 30th of May 2020.  Institutes of eminence, National institutes, IIT’s, and IIM’s are some of the varsities that are a part of the top universities list.

 

There are many rural areas with no access to the internet and to enable students in these areas government has launched the Swayam Prabha DTH Channels. 

The latest 12 channels will be added to the list – mentioned the Finance Minister.  Swayam Prabha is a list of the free educational channel that has over 32 DTH channels that offer educational content.  Engineering, technology, medicine, agriculture, commerce, science, arts, social sciences, humanities subjects, and performing arts are some of the topics available.e learning india covid

Each of these channels has pre-recorded content of a minimum of 6 hours per day on four different subjects.  There is also a dedicated helpline that offers students to clear their doubts.  Space, social infrastructure, atomic energy, power distribution, civil aviation, defense production, coal, and minerals are among the eight sectors that received the economic package as a part of the fourth set. 

Apart from these, the finance minister also announced that the government has also eased the foreign direct investment limitations in the defense manufacturing sector, enabled privatization of airports to open up more airspace,  and has decided to provide privatization in commercial coal mining.
