IndiaSkills Competition 2026–27, Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, IndiaSkills registration, WorldSkills Competition, and vocational skills in India are in focus as the Government of India has officially launched the latest edition of the IndiaSkills Competition. Registrations are now open on the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH), inviting talented youth from across the country to showcase their skills and compete at the national and international levels.
The competition was launched by Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education. According to the ministry, IndiaSkills aims to identify, nurture and recognise skilled youth while preparing them for emerging industry demands and global career opportunities.
This edition of the competition features 63 industry-aligned skill categories, covering sectors such as advanced manufacturing, construction, engineering, digital technologies, hospitality, transportation and creative industries. The categories remain unchanged from the previous cycle to ensure continuity with international skill standards.
Addressing the launch, Jayant Chaudhary described IndiaSkills as more than just a competition, calling it a platform that transforms "skill into aspiration, excellence into opportunity and talent into national pride." He said the initiative reflects India's vision of preparing young people to become both job-ready and world-ready as industries evolve and technology reshapes the future of work.
The competition will follow a multi-stage selection process, beginning with district-level contests and followed by state and regional rounds. Successful participants will advance to the National Competition, where the country's top performers will be selected. National winners will undergo advanced training and assessments before representing India at prestigious international events, including the WorldSkills Competition, enabling them to compete against the world's best skilled professionals.
Since its launch in 2016, IndiaSkills has witnessed significant growth in participation. The inaugural edition attracted nearly 5,000 registrations across 20 skill categories, while the recently concluded IndiaSkills Competition 2025–26 recorded more than 3.5 lakh registrations across 63 skill categories from all 36 States and Union Territories.
The Ministry said the initiative continues to strengthen vocational education by aligning skill development with industry requirements, enhancing employability, and creating better career opportunities for India's youth while supporting the country's ambition to become a global skill capital.
