Leading American Boarding Schools Strengthen Educational Ties with India Through TALIEM

Delegation from Cushing Academy, Hyde School and Fay School visits Delhi and Mumbai to engage with Indian students, schools and families.

Strengthening educational ties between India and the United States, representatives from three leading American boarding schools — Cushing Academy, Hyde School and Fay School — participated in an educational outreach initiative organised by TALIEM – International Liaison Centre for Global Universities and Boarding Schools.

The initiative facilitated interactions with students, educators and prospective families, highlighting opportunities offered by American boarding school education and encouraging international academic partnerships.

The delegation visited prominent schools across Delhi and Mumbai, including Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park; G.D. Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj; Amity International School, Saket; and St. Xavier’s High School, Goregaon, Mumbai. Representatives also interacted with prospective families at local boarding school fairs.

Kevin Smith of Cushing Academy appreciated the initiative, stating, “Supported by educational consultants Pinku and Ayan Biswas, my recent Cushing Academy outreach trip to India provided a wonderful platform to engage with leading school communities across Delhi and Mumbai.”

The visits provided opportunities to discuss academic programmes, extracurricular activities, residential learning and the overall development offered by American boarding schools.

Ayan Biswas, Director of TALIEM, praised the enthusiasm and engagement of Indian students. “Our interaction with the students was one of the highlights of the visit. We were genuinely amazed by the curiosity, confidence, and thought-provoking questions they raised. Their enthusiasm for learning, coupled with their discipline, respect, and cultured manner, was truly impressive and reflects the excellent values being nurtured by your school,” Biswas said.

For Hyde School, the October visit marked an important step towards developing relationships with Indian students and families.

Justin Fahey, Director of Enrollment & Financial Aid at Hyde School, expressed his appreciation, saying, “I am deeply grateful to TALIEM for welcoming Hyde to Mumbai. Their expertise and the depth of their connections across Indian and South Asian education are remarkable. The students and families I met here are curious, thoughtful, and ambitious, exactly the kind of young people who thrive at Hyde, and I look forward to a long and meaningful partnership.”

Paul J. Abeln, Director of International Relations at Fay School, highlighted the value of direct engagement with Indian educational institutions.

“Our hosts provided a welcoming atmosphere for families to meet with attending schools, and they also spent a significant amount of time in conversation with each school, educating us on the Indian market and learning from us about U.S. boarding schools. The school visits were particularly valuable. Each school community was extremely welcoming, providing direct conversations with management as well as visits with students and detailed tours of facilities. I am hopeful that my school can continue to work with TALIEM and enrich our relationship in the coming years,” Abeln said.

TALIEM works with educational institutions across the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, Canada and Asia, facilitating student recruitment, international marketing, academic collaborations and institutional partnerships.

The successful outreach initiative reflects the growing interest among American boarding schools in engaging with Indian students and families. Through such programmes, TALIEM continues to strengthen Indo-American educational ties and create opportunities for long-term international academic cooperation
