NEET-MDS 2026 Cut-Off Reduced: Check Revised Qualifying Percentiles and Scores for All Categories

The qualifying cut off for NEET-MDS 2026 has been reduced, thereby offering more aspirants an opportunity to clear the entrance exam for post-graduate dental courses in India for the 2026-27 academic year.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed the change in a letter dated October 12, 2026, stating that the qualifying percentile has been reduced by 20.576 marks in all three category groups.

The new cut-off percentiles have been applied across all categories, including General, Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC) and persons with benchmark disabilities in the notified categories.

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has been directed to release fresh results considering the reduced cut-off percentiles. The Medical counselling committee (MCC) has been asked to take action in this regard with immediate effect.

What Does the NEET-MDS 2026 Cut-Off Reduction Mean for Applicants?

The qualifying percentile is the minimum score one must secure to be eligible for the admission process. With the reduction in the qualifying percentile, the number of candidates who can apply has increased.

Those who scored a little less than previous year’s qualifying cut-off mark might benefit from the new figures. They should ensure that they meet the specific requirements of their category.

However, one must note that meeting the qualifying cut-off does not guarantee admission to the MDS course. Several other factors affect one’s admission to an MDS course, such as the candidate’s rank, eligibility, the number of seats available in one’s preferred college, reservation policies, counselling procedures, and more.

Applicants must review the eligibility criteria of the target institution and counselling body to which they plan to apply.

Will NEET-MDS 2026 Ranks Change After the Cut-Off Reduction?

No, the ranks mentioned in the original result declaration with the notification on 2 nd June 2026 shall remain the same as highlighted with the newly issued cut-off notice.

The alteration in qualifying percentiles and cut-off scores post-revision does not affect the already published results and ranks of the candidates. It was requested from NBEMS to declare revised results keeping in view the reduced criteria for qualification.

Candidates are advised to visit the NBEMS website for the new result declaration and the MCC website for updates on Postgraduate Dental counselling.

NEET-MDS 2026 Cut-Off Reduction: All That Candidates Need to Know
