The Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital (NRSMCH), a prestigious state-run medical institution in West Bengal, has expelled 40 students. The decision comes after an internal inquiry found the students guilty of physically and mentally harassing freshers, engaging in clashes and vandalism, and violating college rules.
According to college authorities, the expelled students have brought shame to the institution, prompting swift action. Police complaints have also been filed against the expelled students.
As per a Hindustan Times report, the West Bengal government has assured strict action against those involved in ragging and indiscipline, reaffirming the state's zero-tolerance policy. However, the expelled students claim innocence, alleging "false allegations" and "targeted action."
