A government school teacher in Telangana's Adilabad district is being hailed as a hero after saving a young student bitten by a snake during class.

The incident took place at Dhanora mandal parishad government school in Bheempur, where Class I student Yashwant was attacked by a snake while seated on the balcony.

Teacher G Suresh quickly noticed the situation and sprang into action. He tied a tourniquet around Yashwant’s arm to slow the venom's spread and then bravely sucked the poison from the wound using his mouth. His swift response played a crucial role in stabilizing the child.

Yashwant’s parents, Santosh and Sujath, rushed him to the Bheempur primary healthcare centre on a two-wheeler for immediate care. Medical staff at the PHC advised transferring him to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), but the family opted to move him to a private hospital, where he was declared safe.

The doctors who treated Yashwant praised Suresh’s courageous efforts, acknowledging that his decisive actions were vital to preventing more severe consequences.
