Patna Schools Extend Closure Due To Severe Heat Wave

Patna District Administration has extended the closure of all schools in the city until June 19, 2024, citing the relentless heat wave sweeping across the region. The decision comes amidst soaring temperatures, with several areas recording alarming highs above 45 degrees Celsius.

Authorities have taken this precautionary measure to safeguard the health and well-being of students, as the intense heat wave poses significant discomfort and health risks. The closure aims to mitigate potential heat-related illnesses among students and staff alike.

Recent temperature recordings highlight the severity of the heat wave in Bihar:

– Aurangabad: 46.9 degrees Celsius

– Buxar: 46.6 degrees Celsius

– Dehri and Arwal: 46.4 degrees Celsius

– Bhojpur: 46.2 degrees Celsius

– Gaya and Bikramganj: 45.4 degrees Celsius

– Vaishali and Rajgir: 44.3 degrees Celsius

– Nawada: 44 degrees Celsius

The District Administration will monitor weather conditions closely to determine further actions beyond June 19. The decision to extend the closure underscores the administration’s commitment to prioritizing student safety amidst adverse weather conditions.

Parents and educators have welcomed the authorities’ proactive approach, acknowledging the necessity of such measures during extreme weather events. “It’s crucial to protect our children from the heat,” remarked Rekha Devi, a concerned parent in Patna. “I appreciate the administration’s decision to keep schools closed until conditions improve.”

The administration has advised residents to take precautions against the heat wave, including staying hydrated, avoiding direct sun exposure during peak hours, and seeking medical attention promptly for any signs of heat-related illness.

As the city braces through this period of intense heat, residents are urged to remain vigilant and adhere to safety guidelines issued by local authorities. The administration remains vigilant in its efforts to ensure the well-being of the community, particularly vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly, during this challenging weather phase.
