MEXT Undergraduate Scholarship 2025 Opens Doors for International Students to Study in Japan

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan has announced the commencement of applications for the MEXT Undergraduate Scholarship 2025 (Embassy Recommendation).

This fully funded scholarship offers an exceptional opportunity for international students to pursue higher education in Japanese universities.

MEXT has been offering scholarships to international students for several years to promote global cooperation and cultural exchange. The MEXT Undergraduate Scholarship is a testament to Japan’s commitment to fostering talent worldwide and providing access to quality education.

The MEXT scholarship covers a wide range of expenses, including tuition fees, admission fees, and book expenses. Additionally, successful applicants will receive a monthly allowance of 117,000 yen to support their living expenses, accommodation, and meals. The scholarship also includes round-trip airfare tickets and additional support after the assessment of the applicant.

One of the notable features of the MEXT scholarship is its accessibility. Applicants are not required to take the IELTS test, and there is no application fee, making the process more inclusive and accommodating to a diverse range of candidates. However, applicants must submit their documents to the Japanese Embassy in their respective countries, as direct applications to MEXT in Japan are not accepted.

The scholarship duration spans five years, from April 2025 to March 2030, which includes one year of preparatory education in the Japanese language and other subjects. This comprehensive duration allows students to immerse themselves fully in the academic and cultural experiences offered by Japanese universities.

Japan has become a preferred destination for international students seeking quality education in a safe and stable environment. In 2022, the country welcomed over 231,000 international students, reflecting its growing reputation as a global education hub.
