Students currently studying in Class 9 are going to get a head start with the new syllabus. The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is looking to publish new Class 10 books by December 2026. This means students will have them nearly three months before the new academic session of 2027-28.
This will give students more time to get used to the new curriculum and teachers will also have time to look through and prepare for the new content.
When Will the New NCERT Class 10 Books Be Available?
According to reports, NCERT Director Dinesh Prasad Saklani said that the new syllabus for all subjects will be provided to CBSE by November 15th, 2026. This is also likely to be published online to give students, parents and teachers the chance to look through the changes.
The new books will be published by December 2026. These will include English, Hindi, Urdu, Mathematics, Sanskrit, Science, Social Science, Skills Education, Arts and Physical Education. Make sure you stay up to date with official NCERT announcements.
What Will This Help With?
Having the books available in advance could make the jump to Class 10 much easier. Students will have the chance to look at the new syllabus in advance. Teachers may also find this helpful. They will be able to prepare for teaching by looking at the new chapters in advance.
Parents may also benefit from having the books available in advance so they can make sure they have all the correct books. It has been reported that NCERT have made arrangements to ensure they are available via various distribution methods.
What Does This Mean For the New Curriculum?
The new books are part of the changes being made to the curriculum under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023.
Both of these frameworks focus on understanding concepts, critical thinking, hands-on learning and skills.
It means that the books are an important part of updating school education. However, students should wait until they have the syllabus and books to make any assumptions about the changes to specific chapters, how they will be assessed or what the exam pattern will be like.
What Should Class 9 Students Do?
Those who are moving into Class 10 in 2027 do not need to panic and start learning from the old books. Instead:
- Keep up to date with official NCERT announcements regarding the new Class 10 syllabus.
- Look at the NCERT website to see if there are any updates.
- Continue to revise for your current Class 9 exams.
- Once they are available, look through the new books.
- Ask your teacher for advice.
The early release of the books could mean that students and teachers have more time to prepare. It is also a good reminder that it is important to have updated resources available in a timely manner so students can start the new academic year with more clarity.
