NIT Patna Student Found Dead In Hostel Room, Suicide Note Recovered

A tragic incident unfolded at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Patna, as a 19-year-old student, Pallavi Reddy, was found dead in her hostel room on Friday evening.

Pallavi, a second-year Computer Electronics student from Andhra Pradesh, was discovered hanging from the ceiling fan in her room at Kadambini Hostel, located on the NIT campus.

The Patna Police were alerted to the situation around 10:30 p.m., and upon arrival, a doctor from ESIC Hospital declared her deceased. A suicide note was recovered from the room, which has since been sealed for forensic analysis. The police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. Authorities are examining her call records and will question the hostel warden and fellow students to gather more information.

According to a press release from Patna Police, the student’s body has been sent for postmortem at Danapur Hospital, and a forensic team is involved in the ongoing investigation. The police are looking into multiple aspects of the case to ensure a thorough probe.

The incident has triggered protests on the NIT Patna campus, with many students demanding a transparent investigation. In response to the unrest, additional police forces have been deployed to maintain order. Pallavi's family has been informed, and further developments are expected as the investigation progresses.
