IIT Guwahati’s Leadership Summit 2024: Insights On Workplace Happiness And Leadership

The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati’s Centre for Career Development (CCD) successfully organized the "Leadership Summit 2024," a two-day event that brought together corporate leaders and academia under the theme "Grooming Young Talents."

Nearly 50 delegates from top companies, including Google, NetApp, BNY Mellon, Micron, and Reliance-BP, participated in the event to bridge the gap between industry expectations and student capabilities.

The summit began with a welcome address by Prof. Lalit Mohan Pandey, Head of CCD, and a comprehensive overview of the event by Prof. Vivek Padmanabha, Faculty Coordinator for Internship and Personality Development at IIT Guwahati. Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Director of IIT Guwahati, emphasized the institute’s dedication to continuously updating its academic programs and research initiatives to meet the evolving demands of industries. He stressed the importance of preparing students not only with technical skills but also with entrepreneurial capabilities to become future leaders.

The event featured several notable speakers, including Deepak Singhal, Executive Director and MD of Tolaram Group Singapore, who delivered the keynote address on "Grooming Young Talents." He highlighted the value of focus and perseverance in leadership. Another keynote was delivered by Shri Venky Venkatesh, President of Group HR at RPG Group, who spoke on "Crafting the Dream Workplace for Today & Tomorrow," emphasizing the importance of workplace happiness and work-life balance.

In a fireside chat, Suswar Ganu and Shri Maharajan Muthuswamy from BNY discussed career preparation in fintech, focusing on goal-setting and postgraduate education. The final keynote, delivered by Shri Gian Batra of the Airports Authority of India (AAI), covered career opportunities in aviation.

The summit concluded with a valedictory session featuring Shri M. Raja Kishore, Regional Executive Director of AAI (North Eastern Region), as the chief guest, and Dr. Naba Goswami, a prominent cardiologist, as the guest of honour.
