The fair will bring together representatives from 13 Swedish universities to guide Indian students on postgraduate programmes, admissions and research opportunities.
Indian students aspiring to pursue a master’s degree in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) can explore academic opportunities in Sweden at the upcoming Study in Sweden 2026 fair in Hyderabad on October 30.
Organised by the Embassy of Sweden, the fair will bring representatives from 13 Swedish universities, including Lund University, KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Linköping University, together with prospective students and other stakeholders. The event will also be held in New Delhi on October 28.
The initiative aims to help Indian students understand Sweden’s postgraduate education system, choose suitable programmes and navigate admission requirements and the residence permit process. Participants will also learn about research opportunities, campus life and potential career pathways after completing their degrees.
The event comes amid growing educational and research cooperation between India and Sweden, with student and researcher mobility emerging as an important component of bilateral engagement.
Petra Menander, Ambassador of Sweden to India, said the country’s education system encourages critical thinking, creativity and innovation, preparing students to address future challenges.
She said the fairs would allow Indian students to interact directly with Swedish universities and explore a range of academic programmes. Menander also highlighted the role of education and student mobility in strengthening people-to-people ties between the two countries.
A key feature of Sweden’s academic ecosystem is its Triple Helix model, which promotes collaboration among universities, industry and government. The approach enables students and researchers to engage with interdisciplinary projects, innovation initiatives and industry-related challenges.
Through direct interactions with university representatives, prospective applicants will be able to seek guidance on programme selection, application procedures and academic expectations.
The fairs also reflect the broader India–Sweden partnership in science, technology, innovation and sustainable development. Cooperation in higher education and the mobility of students, doctoral researchers and academics remain important avenues for strengthening research collaboration and expanding international learning opportunities.
For Indian students considering postgraduate education abroad, the event offers an opportunity to assess Sweden’s academic offerings and understand the practical steps involved in applying to its universities.
