With the increasing number of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields and the expanding needs of the world for them, institutions and organizations have come forward to offer scholarships to motivate women studying these professions. They attempt to finance women, enhance diversity, and bring in leadership to STEM fields.

Only 22 per cent of G20 countries' STEM employment is comprised of women, based on calculations made by UNESCO in 2024.

Funding and mentorship are the solutions, say experts, to propel participation growth, enable women to overcome barriers in institutions, and provide them with resources to engage in high-demand sectors.

Women in STEM complete the pool of talent and provide the global economy with innovative and inclusive development.

IDP Education has outlined four significant scholarships for women in the field of STEM:

  1. IDP Destination Newcastle Scholarship For Women In STEM

Awarded in partnership with the University of Newcastle, this scholarship is for high-performing women STEM students. It's open for undergraduate and postgraduate students to pursue studies in Semester 1, 2026 or subsequent semesters. For the 2026 intake, one scholarship is available, with 100% international tuition fee for one year, allowing the student to continue the studies without any financial issues.

  1. King's College London Women In STEM Scholarship

Offered by King's College London in its Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences, this scholarship is accessible to female, non-binary, and transgender students who are home fee status. It covers first-year undergraduate students joining September 2025. Each scholarship totals 3,000 dollars for three years, and awardees also serve the university's diversity and inclusion events as Women in Science Champions.

  1. BHW Scholarship for Women in STEM

Given by The BHW Group, a Texas mobile app design and development company, this annual scholarship is open to women pursuing undergraduate or master's levels in STEM from US universities that offer study abroad programs. The scholarship requires the applicant to compose a 500-800-word essay about their most beloved app or the one that has deeply influenced their life. The scholarship gives USD 3,000, with deadlines for application on April 15 annually and result notification on May 15.

  1. Nutanix Spark Scholarship

This scholarship is available for full-time graduate and undergraduate women pursuing studies in computer science, software, or electrical engineering at universities in the US, India, UK, Germany, Spain, France, Netherlands, Australia, or Mexico. The candidates should have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and should be good leaders, communicators, and community members. A maximum of 10 scholarships of USD 1,000-5,000 will be provided worldwide, with the next deadline being May 15, 2026.
