Two students hailing from modest backgrounds in Sikkim have clinched notable honors at this year's India Skills Competitions held by the Central government in New Delhi.
Radhika Chettri, enrolled in Bachelor of Science (BSc) Emergency Medical Technology at Medhavi Skills University (MSU), secured a silver medal, while Krishna Kumari Mukhia, specializing in BSc Radiology and Imaging Technology at the same institution, earned a bronze. The competition, which took place on May 19th, saw participants from across the nation showcasing their skills.
Their remarkable performance at the India Skills competition has now paved the way for them to vie for glory at the World Skills contest in Lyon, France.
MSU, renowned as the youngest university to secure medals at such a prestigious competition, proudly witnessed Sikkim's debut medal haul at the national level.
Originating from humble settings in Ben, South Sikkim, and Adarsh Goan, East Sikkim, respectively, these fourth-semester students from Medhavi Skills University's School of Healthcare have journeyed to the forefront of national recognition, having excelled through regional competitions.
Radhika and Krishna's remarkable journey culminated in triumph as MSU hosted the inaugural rounds of the India Skills Competition (Eastern Region) in the health and social care category earlier this year.
Reflecting on the achievement, MSU Founder and Chancellor Pravesh Dudani emphasized the significance of the students' feats, not just for the university but for the entire state of Sikkim. He extended his congratulations to the achievers, their mentors, and the entire Sikkimese community for this remarkable milestone, which stands as a source of immense pride for Sikkim and the North East region as a whole.
