Naseeruddin Shah, 73, criticized the concentration of Muslims on inconsequential matters, urging a shift towards embracing education and modern ideologies instead of solely relying on traditional Madrassas. He attributed faults within the Muslim community to exacerbating their challenges.

Veteran Indian actor Naseeruddin Shah, in a recent interview with The Wire, expressed concerns over misplaced priorities within the Muslim community, emphasizing the need to focus on education rather than peripheral issues like Hijab and attire choices of public figures such as tennis player Sania Mirza. Shah has pointed out that blaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi for all the country's woes is oversimplified, pointing out that societal issues existed before Modi's tenure.

Shah, 73, criticized the concentration of Muslims on inconsequential matters, urging a shift towards embracing education and modern ideologies instead of solely relying on traditional Madrassas. He attributed faults within the Muslim community to exacerbating their challenges.

Regarding Modi's leadership, Shah remarked on the Prime Minister's diminishing coherence over time and the necessity for him to acknowledge the need for power-sharing despite his previous beliefs of invincibility. Notably, Shah clarified that his views were those of an ordinary citizen rather than a political expert.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured a commanding victory, clinching 293 seats out of the 543-member lower house, surpassing the requisite majority of 272 seats. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the leading party within the NDA, fell short of its previous electoral performance, securing only 240 seats.
