The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has postponed the second Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), initially set to take place from June 26 to June 28, 2024.

The decision was made to avoid a clash with the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) headmaster recruitment exams scheduled for June 28 and 29. The new date for the TET will be announced within the next two days, according to an ANI report.

The TET is a critical certification for aspiring teachers in Bihar, enabling them to achieve state employee status. It is a gateway for candidates seeking to teach in primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools across the state.

It is to be noted that the postponement of the TET comes at a time when examination security is under intense scrutiny due to recent paper leaks. The University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) was cancelled after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan revealed on June 20 that the exam's question paper had been leaked on the darknet. The darknet is a hidden part of the internet not indexed by standard search engines. It is often used for anonymous transactions involving cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.

For the unversed, the Supreme Court, on June 21, 2024, refused to delay the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate (NEET-UG) counselling process, which is set to commence on July 6. Despite allegations of paper leaks and ongoing controversies, the court emphasized that the counselling process must proceed as planned.

Minister Pradhan addressed the NEET-UG 2024 controversy, reiterating the government's commitment to safeguarding students' interests. He confirmed that the NEET-UG 2024 will not be cancelled and announced the formation of a high-level committee to investigate the issues. "We will not compromise on the transparency of the examination," Pradhan stated, underlining the government's dedication to maintaining the integrity of the examination process.

As the BSEB works to reschedule the TET, candidates are advised to stay updated through official channels for the new dates. The postponement underscores exam authorities' broader challenges in ensuring the security and integrity of crucial certification processes.
