Fifteen Class VIII students at a government-run school in Changlang district, Arunachal Pradesh, were reportedly assaulted by their seniors in a hostel, as confirmed by a police official today, Wednesday, June 26.
Principal Rajeev Ranjan provided details of the incident, stating that five senior students allegedly involved have been suspended following the incident on Tuesday, June 25.
According to reports from PTI, a police complaint has been filed regarding the assault. The victims, junior boys of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Bordumsa, were allegedly beaten with sticks by several Class XI students within the hostel premises.
Principal Rajeev Ranjan convened a disciplinary committee meeting to address the matter. Following deliberation, the committee members found five senior students responsible for causing physical harm and psychological distress to the Class VIII students.
Changlang Superintendent of Police Kirli Padu mentioned that efforts are underway to identify the accused students, and the police are scheduled to meet with the victims. He assured the injured students and their parents that appropriate action will be taken against those found guilty. The principal said, "We have already suspended the students who were involved in the incident. It is an isolated case. We will ascertain the reason behind it," as quoted by Edex Live.
