Infosys Foundation, the CSR arm of Infosys, has announced a significant initiative to skill 48,000 students from rural areas in India over the next three years. This program aims to benefit more than 450 colleges in these rural regions.

The foundation will set up Centers of Excellence for Women and Youth Empowerment, which will serve as skill development and training hubs. These centres will offer online and offline training and help facilitate job placements in Tier II and III cities. The initiative is designed not just to meet immediate job market needs but to invest in the long-term career success of these students.

In partnership with the ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu, an NGO focused on employability and training, the program will offer an 80-hour curriculum covering core skills, along with 20 hours of soft skills training. Students will be trained in financial services, insurance, knowledge process outsourcing (KPO), e-commerce, retail, IT, logistics, and banking.

V Srikanth, CEO of ICT Academy, emphasized the importance of this initiative, noting that the demand for a highly skilled workforce is at an all-time high due to rapidly evolving industry requirements. "For graduate students, this translates to enhanced employability and greater career opportunities," he said.

Sumit Virmani, Trustee of Infosys Foundation, added, “The initiative will improve their industry readiness and employability in today’s dynamic talent landscape,” as quoted by Edex Live. This ambitious project highlights Infosys Foundation’s commitment to empowering rural youth and women by providing them with the necessary skills to thrive in various industries.
