In response to heavy rainfall and severe weather warnings from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), educational institutions across Kerala, Karnataka, and Goa have been closed. The IMD has predicted thunderstorms, heavy downpours, and winds reaching up to 40 kmph in some regions of Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts in Kerala.

As a precaution, district authorities in Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, Kasaragod, Ernakulam, and Wayanad have declared holidays for schools and colleges. The IMD has issued a red alert for northern Malappuram, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts, while Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, and Wayanad districts are under an orange alert today.

In Karnataka, the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) has reported active to vigorous rainfall that is expected to last until July 16. Consequently, Deputy Commissioner Laxmipriya of Uttara Kannada district has ordered the closure of all schools and Pre-University (PU) colleges in Karwar, Ankola, Kumta, Honnavar, Bhatkal, Sirsi, Siddapur, Yellapur, Dandeli, and Joida taluks for today, in line with the IMD's red alert warning.

Goa has also been severely affected, with the Education Department announcing a school holiday up to Class X on Monday, July 15, due to continuous heavy rains over the past three days. The IMD's red alert for Goa has led to the closure of all schools from Classes I to XII for the day. State Education Director Shailesh Zingde stated that the decision was made to prioritize student safety.

These closures underscore the significant impact of the current weather conditions and the necessary precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff in the affected regions.
