The eagerly awaited results of the Bihar Teacher Recruitment Exam, held from July 19 to July 22, 2024, have been unexpectedly delayed, leaving over 1.5 lakh candidates uncertain. The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) announced the hold-up, citing unresolved issues surrounding the reservation roster as the primary reason.

The reservation roster is a critical component in determining the allocation of reserved seats for various categories, including Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). The controversy stems from the BPSC’s inability to finalise this roster, which has consequently stalled the announcement of results for the teacher recruitment exam.

As News18 reports, the delay has sparked widespread concern among candidates eagerly waiting for the results to be published. Many had hoped that this exam would pave the way for securing teaching positions in Bihar’s schools, but the ongoing issues with the reservation roster have cast doubt over their futures.

Despite the growing frustration, the BPSC has assured candidates they are working diligently to resolve the reservation roster issues. The commission has emphasised that ensuring fairness and accuracy in reserving reserved seats is paramount, and they are committed to announcing the results as soon as the matter is settled.

This setback has also drawn attention to the broader implications of the reservation system in Bihar’s public sector recruitment. The controversy over the reservation roster has highlighted the challenges of balancing merit and affirmative action in a state with a diverse and complex social structure.

Candidates are advised to stay updated through official BPSC channels as they await further announcements. The delay in results has undoubtedly added an unexpected twist to the Bihar Teacher Recruitment process, and all eyes are now on the BPSC to see how quickly and efficiently they can resolve this issue.
