The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) maintained its intensive questioning of Dr Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of West Bengal’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, today.
Ghosh has been under interrogation for the 13th consecutive day as part of the ongoing investigation into the alleged rape and murder of a female postgraduate trainee doctor.
According to a CBI official, Ghosh's questioning has surpassed 130 hours. The agency's investigation, which was transferred from Kolkata Police following Calcutta High Court orders, seeks to unravel the details surrounding the tragic incident that occurred on August 9, when the trainee doctor's body was discovered at the hospital.
In related developments, the CBI has named Ghosh in an FIR concerning alleged financial irregularities during his tenure at the hospital. On August 25, the CBI executed a day-long search operation at Ghosh's Beliaghata residence concerning these corruption allegations.
Furthermore, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched a separate money laundering probe into the financial discrepancies at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, implicating Ghosh and others in the scandal.
Ghosh, along with civic volunteer Sanjoy Roy, who has already been arrested by Kolkata Police, has undergone a polygraph test as part of the investigation. The case continues to attract significant attention as authorities delve deeper into the scandal's criminal and financial aspects.
