IIT Bombay placement report 2023-24 records impressive salaries and high job offers

IIT Bombay has released its placement report for the academic year 2023-24, revealing an impressive performance by its students, with record salaries and a high number of job offers across various sectors.

The report highlights the institute's continued excellence in producing highly sought-after top-tier graduates by leading companies in India and internationally.

According to the NDTV report, the average salary offered to students this year was ₹23.50 lakh per annum, while the median wage stood at ₹17.92 lakh per annum. These figures underscore the strong demand for IIT Bombay graduates, particularly in high-paying industries. A standout feature of this year’s placements was the number of students who secured exceptionally high packages. 22 students received offers exceeding ₹ one crore, a significant milestone reflecting the premium placed on the skills and expertise developed at IIT Bombay. Additionally, 78 international job offers were accepted, indicating the global appeal and competitiveness of the institute’s graduates.

The placement process saw the participation of 364 companies, offering nearly 1,650 jobs. The Engineering and Technology sector emerged as the top recruiter, reflecting the continued dominance of core engineering disciplines in the job market. Among the disciplines, Electrical Engineering led the pack with 232 job offers, Computer Science Engineering with 230 offers, and Mechanical Engineering with 229 offers. These numbers highlight the strong foundation and industry relevance of the programs offered at IIT Bombay.

The placement rates varied across different academic programs, with BTech and MTech students achieving impressive placement percentages of 83.39% and 83.5%, respectively. The MS Research program saw a remarkable placement rate of 93.33%, reflecting the high demand for research-oriented professionals. The Dual Degree (BTech and MTech) programs had a placement rate of 79.16%, while the MSc programs recorded a placement rate of 55.06%.

The report also highlighted the diversity of sectors recruited from IIT Bombay this year, including Core Engineering, Information Technology, Software Programming, Research and Development, Consulting, Finance and Banking, High-End Technology, and Technical Services. This broad participation underscores the versatility of IIT Bombay graduates and their ability to excel in various industries.

Overall, the 2023-24 placement season at IIT Bombay has reaffirmed the institution’s status as a premier destination for recruiters seeking top talent, with graduates continuing to secure positions in leading companies worldwide.
