Doctors at RG Kar Medical College have refuted recent allegations made by Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee regarding the death of a youth at the institution.

Banerjee had claimed that the youth died due to a lack of timely medical attention, allegedly caused by ongoing protests at the college. However, medical professionals at the hospital have firmly rejected this claim, clarifying that the death was unrelated to the protests.

According to edexLive reports, the youth in question had been involved in a severe road accident and was brought to the emergency department with critical injuries. Despite their best efforts to provide immediate and comprehensive medical treatment, the youth tragically succumbed to the injuries. The hospital staff emphasized that they had followed all necessary medical procedures promptly and diligently, and the death was purely the result of the accident, not the protests affecting the institution.

The doctors voiced concern that Banerjee's statement could potentially fuel tensions within the college and mislead the public about the reality of the situation. Given the sensitive atmosphere surrounding the ongoing administrative conflict at RG Kar Medical College, many fear such unfounded claims might exacerbate unrest.

This incident unfolded due to a prolonged dispute at the medical college over appointing a new principal, leading to internal divisions and protests among the college's staff and students. The Supreme Court is currently hearing the matter and is expected to rule on the issue soon.

The medical community at RG Kar Medical College stressed the importance of accurate information, especially during such a critical time for the institution. They urged political leaders to be cautious in making public statements that could create unnecessary confusion and aggravate a volatile situation. Many doctors also noted that the college continues to provide essential medical services despite the internal discord, and the protests have not compromised patient care or safety.

Banerjee’s remarks have sparked widespread debate, with some political observers suggesting that the statement may have been an attempt to sway public opinion in the ongoing conflict. Meanwhile, the doctors remain steadfast in their stance, reiterating that their focus is on providing quality care and resolving the internal issues at the college through lawful and peaceful means. As the case proceeds in the Supreme Court, the medical community hopes for a swift resolution to restore normalcy at the institution.
