The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken strict action against 27 schools in Delhi and Rajasthan for violating its regulations. Of the schools involved, 22 are based in Delhi, while the remaining five are in Rajasthan's Ajmer region.

The Board issued show-cause notices to these institutions after conducting surprise inspections that uncovered multiple breaches of its Bye-Laws, particularly regarding student enrollment and attendance practices.

According to an official statement from CBSE, some of the schools were found to have enrolled more students in classes 11 and 12, even though many of these students were not attending physical classes. Additionally, discrepancies in attendance records were uncovered, raising concerns about the schools’ adherence to CBSE’s regulatory framework.

The inspections also revealed that several schools were failing to meet the Board’s infrastructural requirements, potentially compromising student safety and education quality. In response, CBSE has reiterated its commitment to upholding high educational standards and warned that it would continue monitoring schools closely to ensure compliance with its guidelines.

The rise of “dummy schools” has also become a growing concern. These institutions allow students, particularly those preparing for competitive exams like engineering and medical entrance tests, to skip regular classes and focus solely on exam preparation. These students typically attend school only for board exams, creating gaps in regular academic engagement.

CBSE’s recent crackdown highlights the Board’s efforts to address these violations and ensure that schools balance compliance and quality education. Further actions may be taken if the schools fail to respond adequately to the show-cause notices.
