The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the notification for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) for the December 2024 session.
The exam is set to take place on December 1, 2024, with registrations now open. Candidates have until October 16, 2024, to submit their applications.
CTET is a national-level exam, mandatory for those seeking teaching positions for Classes I to VIII in schools. CBSE conducts the exam twice a year—in June/July and December.
Key Points for CTET Aspirants:
- Eligibility: For Paper 1 (Primary Stage), candidates must meet specific academic qualifications, including graduation or a diploma in elementary education. For Paper 2 (Elementary Stage), a graduation degree with relevant teacher training is required.
- Age Limit: The minimum age to apply is 18, with no upper age limit set by CBSE.
- Attempts: There is no limit on the number of attempts for CTET, and the qualifying certificate is valid for a lifetime. Candidates can retake the exam to improve their scores.
- Application Fee: General and OBC (NCL) candidates are required to pay Rs 1000 for one paper, while reserved category candidates pay Rs 500. For those applying for both papers, the fee is Rs 1200 for General/OBC and Rs 600 for reserved categories.
- Certificate Applicability: The CTET certificate is valid for central government schools, including Kendriya Vidyalayas, and certain private schools. State schools may choose to consider either CTET or their own TET.
Candidates are encouraged to apply early and ensure they meet the necessary qualifications before the deadline.
