Two government primary school teachers in the district have been suspended for unauthorized absenteeism, according to officials on Friday. The suspensions were carried out following separate investigations into continuous absences, raising concerns about teacher accountability in the education system.

District Basic Education Officer (BEO) Manish Singh said Assistant Teacher Anurag Kumar, who was posted in a school in the Chilkahar education zone, was suspended after an inquiry confirmed that he had been absent during a recent inspection by the Block Education Officer. Complaints about his prolonged absence had surfaced earlier, prompting an investigation. Kumar has been attached to the primary school in Nasratpur pending further action. The responsibility for investigating his case has been handed over to the Block Education Officer, Muralichhapra, for a thorough probe.

Similarly, another assistant teacher, Deepak Kumar Singh, employed at a primary school in Sardipur within the Rasra education zone, was suspended on similar charges of unauthorized absenteeism. Singh’s case also underwent an inquiry, which confirmed the validity of the complaints against him. Durga Prasad Singh, the Block Education Officer of Muralichhapra, has been appointed as the investigating officer to handle this case. Deepak Kumar Singh has been attached to the primary school in Gurgujpur while the investigation continues.

The suspension of both teachers highlights the administration’s stance on addressing absenteeism in schools, with officials stating that unauthorized absences impact the quality of education provided to students. Further action will be determined after the completion of the ongoing investigations. The education department is expected to take strict measures to ensure accountability and regular attendance in government schools across the district.
