The West Bengal Central School Service Commission (WBSSC) has officially initiated the long-awaited counselling process for upper primary-level teacher appointments, starting today, October 3.

This crucial step aims to fill vacant teaching positions in government-aided schools nationwide. Candidates who have been shortlisted must download their intimation letters from the official WBSSC website by entering their roll number and date of birth.

The counselling process will unfold in phases, with the first two sessions scheduled for October 3 and 4. The October 3 session will focus on Pure Science subjects, while the October 4 session will cover History, Geography, and Nepali. Five rounds of counselling are planned within the month following the release of the merit list by the Kolkata High Court, which features 14,052 candidates.

The initial two rounds will involve 658 candidates, while the subsequent rounds, set for October 24, 28, and 29, are expected to accommodate approximately 700 to 800 participants each. Notably, the WBSSC has reserved 10% of the seats for para-teachers, promoting inclusivity in recruitment.

With the counselling now underway, the WBSSC aims to expedite the appointment of teachers in upper primary schools, addressing the state's educational needs. This initiative is anticipated to enhance the quality of education and support the professional development of aspiring educators in West Bengal. As the process unfolds, candidates and their families are hopeful for timely placements in the state’s educational institutions.
