Bihar is making notable strides in critical sectors like education and healthcare, and it is expected to align with the rest of India in the coming years, according to NITI Aayog CEO BVR Subrahmanyam.

Addressing a press briefing in Gaya ahead of a national conference on data-driven governance, Subrahmanyam mentioned that several aspirational districts in the state are on track to become "inspirational" thanks to improved governance structures and service delivery mechanisms.

“Bihar will bridge the gap with the rest of the country within a few years. The state is progressing well in fundamental areas such as education and health," Subrahmanyam remarked. He also highlighted Bihar’s leadership in using technology to modernize governance, mainly through implementing artificial intelligence (AI) for policy and administrative decisions.

Bihar has become a pioneer in adopting AI-driven decision support systems, with the Bihar Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development (BIPARD) preparing to unveil its cutting-edge GenNext Lab. This facility will provide policymakers and administrators with AI tools to enhance decision-making and governance efficiency. Along with the GenNext Lab, two other facilities will be launched, marking a transformative shift in governance training in the state.

The newly established labs at BIPARD, including the Next-Gen Lab and ‘Niti Shala,’ will incorporate advanced simulations and AI-based technologies to create immersive learning environments for training public officials. As explained by government representatives, these labs are designed to train officers in using AI for policy analysis, predictive governance, and overall administrative efficiency.

Subrahmanyam stressed that embracing advanced technologies is crucial for governance in a rapidly changing world. With these innovations, Bihar is setting the stage for a more competent, faster, and more responsive governance system, ensuring better public service delivery and policymaking soon.
