Students from Delhi’s government schools will soon head to Germany to participate in a dual vocational training program to equip them with advanced technical skills and invaluable work experience. This initiative, a collaboration between the Delhi Government, the Goethe Institute, and leading German industries is targeted at students who have passed class 12.
The program, part of the global ‘APAL’ project, offers young students from Latin America, India, and Uzbekistan the opportunity to undergo a 3.5-year dual vocational training in Germany, partnered with top German industries. The initiative promises to prepare students for global opportunities through world-class technical training.
During an orientation event held at Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in West Vinod Nagar on Tuesday, AAP leader Manish Sisodia expressed pride in the project. “I feel proud that the step we took two years ago in partnership with the German Embassy has reached the stage where German industry is willing to invite. our students,” he said. He added, “This world-class training represents a significant step towards securing a brighter future for children in government schools, elevating the quality of education and opening up global opportunities for them,” as quoted by The Indian Express.
The first batch of around 30-40 students is set to join the program soon. This collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed two years ago, including introducing German in Delhi’s ‘Schools of Specialized Excellence.’ German is taught in 30 Delhi government schools, benefiting approximately 4,500 students.
This vocational training marks a significant leap towards creating better career prospects for government school students in Delhi, paving the way for a brighter, more globally connected future.
