Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, while addressing the USISPF India Leadership Summit 2024 in New Delhi, highlighted the transformative role of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in reshaping India's education system.

Pradhan emphasized that the NEP's core objective is to prepare the country's young population to become future-ready, responsible global citizens. He described the policy as a "philosophical document" focused on building students' confidence and competencies rather than merely accumulating degrees.

"We have to give opportunity to all our youngsters, equitable education, inclusive education, affordable education, and quality education. We are inviting foreign universities in India to open their campuses in India. Sizable Indian students are going to overseas. For Speed, around a million youngsters are going to different part of the world for the higher studies," Pradhan stated, as quoted by Hindustan Times. He also noted that NEP's influence will extend beyond India's borders, having a "global impact" in the years to come.

Pradhan outlined the NEP's key priorities, which include integrating technology in education, promoting learning in Indian languages, fostering research and innovation, and focusing on employability skills. He stressed that these reforms place India in a favourable position to leverage its growing youth population and become a leading player in the global economy over the next two decades.

The minister further emphasized the importance of equitable and inclusive education, calling for opportunities for all students to access affordable and high-quality education. He also revealed plans to invite foreign universities to establish campuses in India, noting that approximately one million Indian students currently pursue higher education abroad. "We must provide our youngsters with the chance to pursue education that is inclusive, equitable, and of global standards," Pradhan added.
