The Ahmedabad District Education Officer (DEO) has issued notices to multiple schools following a recent inspection survey that uncovered various violations. The inspections have led to fines and warnings imposed on the schools for failing to comply with safety and educational regulations.
One of the schools, The School of Achievers, faced serious reprimands after classes were found to be conducted in a basement with exposed electric wires, posing a potential safety hazard. The DEO immediately instructed the school to address the issue and initially imposed a fine of ₹10,000 for non-compliance. However, after the school delayed paying the fine for a prolonged period, the amount was increased to ₹25,000, and a fresh notice was issued.
In a separate case, Nelson School in Maninagar was also flagged during the DEO’s inspection for using books from a private publication, which are not permitted under the prescribed curriculum. Despite being given an opportunity to explain the use of these books, the school’s response was found unsatisfactory, resulting in a ₹10,000 fine being imposed.
The DEO has urged all schools to strictly adhere to safety standards and prescribed educational materials, warning that further inspections and penalties may follow if compliance issues persist. The actions taken reflect the DEO's ongoing efforts to maintain educational standards and ensure a safe learning environment in Ahmedabad schools.
