The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has faced backlash following its announcement of the UPPSC RO ARO Notification 2024, particularly regarding the scheduling of the Review Officer (RO) and Assistant Review Officer (ARO) examinations.

Students have expressed significant concerns over the decision to conduct the RO and ARO Preliminary Examination 2023 and the PCS Pre 2024 exam across two days and in two shifts. Many candidates believe this format could unfairly impact their scores due to normalization issues.

Protests have erupted in Prayagraj, where students presented a memorandum to UPPSC officials, demanding that the exams be held on a single day and in one shift. The hashtag campaign on social media, which has gained traction with over 150,000 supporters, reflects widespread dissatisfaction among candidates.

The RO and ARO exams are set for December 22-23, 2024, while the PCS Pre exam is scheduled for December 7-8, 2024. This revised timeline follows earlier disruptions, including cancelling the preliminary examination in February 2024 due to a paper leak. The commission had previously aimed to hold the exams in October 2024, but logistical challenges prevented this.

With over 1 million candidates applying for the RO and ARO exams and 576,000 for the PCS Pre exam, the commission is pressured to address these concerns and ensure a fair testing process.
