Assam Education Directorate Invites Applications for Over 9,000 Teacher Positions

The Directorate of Secondary Education, Assam, has officially opened the application process for more than 9,000 teaching positions, including Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT) and Post Graduate Teachers (PGT) for high school and intermediate levels.

Aspiring candidates are encouraged to apply for these roles by visiting the official website, madhyamik.assam.gov.in, with the application window set to close on November 15, 2024.

The recruitment aims to fill 8,004 TGT and 1,385 PGT positions, addressing the growing need for qualified educators in the state. Applicants from the general category must pay an application fee of ₹500, while candidates from the SC, ST, and PWD categories will pay a reduced cost of ₹350. This structured fee framework ensures accessibility for a diverse pool of candidates.

To qualify for the TGT posts, candidates must possess a relevant bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% marks and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree from an institution accredited by the National Council for Teacher Education. For the PGT roles, candidates must hold a B.Ed. Degree in conjunction with a postgraduate degree in the relevant subject.

Regarding remuneration, TGT teachers will receive salaries ranging from ₹14,000 to ₹70,000 per month, along with a grade pay of ₹8,700. Meanwhile, PGT teachers can expect salaries between ₹22,000 and ₹97,000, with a grade pay of ₹11,800 per month, reflecting the government's commitment to offering competitive compensation for educational professionals.
