The National Medical Commission (NMC) has directed medical colleges across India to submit details of students admitted to the first-year MBBS program for the 2024-25 academic session. According to an official notice dated October 29, 2024, colleges must complete this submission through the NMC’s online platform at nmc.org.in by November 8, 2024, with a midnight deadline.
This measure is part of NMC’s ongoing efforts to ensure that all admissions in MBBS courses align with the NMC Act, 2019. As per the guidelines, colleges are required to adhere strictly to the sanctioned intake capacity and eligibility criteria for MBBS admissions. Among these criteria, candidates must be at least 17 years old by December 31 of the admission year, have passed the qualifying 10+2 examination, and have achieved a qualifying score in the NEET-UG exam. The NMC has emphasized that admissions must be merit-based, transparent, and conducted in a fair manner to promote accountability in medical education.
To facilitate this process, the NMC has introduced an “UG Admission Monitoring Module,” an online system through which all institutions must enter student details. The notice highlighted that each college is provided with a unique login ID to access the system, and any college failing to meet the November 8 deadline will be unable to enter data for the current academic year.
The new online monitoring system aims to enhance transparency and allow the NMC to monitor compliance with admission regulations closely. In a statement, the NMC reiterated the importance of following standardized admission norms, which are seen as crucial to maintaining the quality and credibility of medical education in India.
