A 49-year-old teacher passed away due to a sudden cardiac arrest while teaching a class at Panchayat Union Middle School in Sundapur, a village in the district.

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when Antony Gerald, a resident of Bhoodapadi village near Ammapet, experienced severe chest pain and collapsed in front of his fourth-grade students. Witnessing their teacher in distress, the students promptly informed the school’s Headmaster, who took swift action to seek medical assistance.

Gerald was immediately taken to a nearby doctor for examination. However, despite the rapid response, the doctor confirmed that Gerald had already passed away due to cardiac arrest. His sudden demise has left the school staff, students, and the local community in shock and mourning.

School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi extended his condolences to Gerald’s family on Thursday, expressing sympathy for their loss and acknowledging the teacher’s contributions to the community. In his statement, the Minister recognized Gerald’s dedication to his students and commitment to education, highlighting the impact he made throughout his teaching career.

On Thursday morning, teachers, parents, and local residents gathered to pay their last respects to the late teacher, honouring his years of service to the school and his unwavering commitment to the children he taught.
