Around 30 students from the Bonduguda Tribal Welfare Residential School in Dumbriguda Mandal, Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) district, were admitted to the hospital after falling sick following their dinner on the evening of Friday, August 30.
The students showed signs of vomiting and fever shortly after eating egg curry, leading school officials to respond promptly. The students were transported to Araku Valley Area Hospital, approximately six kilometres away, for further medical attention and monitoring.
V Abishek, Project Officer of the Paderu Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), confirmed the occurrence, describing it as a singular incident. "A medical team of four doctors was immediately sent to the school, and fluids were administered," he reported. The students were later moved to the hospital for stabilization.
Following the incident, the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) quickly contacted district authorities to check the students' condition. They were assured that the affected students were closely monitored and receiving top-notch medical care. The event has sparked concerns about the safety of food provided at the residential school, with further investigations expected to be conducted.
