Department of Social Justice and Special Assistance has announced that those who previously had their applications for pre-matriculation and post-matriculation scholarships rejected can now reapply offline until November 30. This opportunity ensures deserving students do not miss out on vital financial assistance due to earlier application issues.
Since implementing Direct Bank Transfer (DBT) in 2017, scholarship funds have been deposited directly into beneficiaries' Aadhaar-linked bank accounts. However, numerous applications from the academic years 2018-19 to 2023-24 faced rejection for various reasons. Many students encountered obstacles such as lack of Aadhaar registration, income limitations, and absence of caste verification certificates. Additionally, delays in college fee determinations and the results of regular and supplementary examinations led to further complications for applicants.
To mitigate the adverse effects of these rejections, the Social Welfare Department urges students to submit their offline applications through their respective colleges to the office of the Assistant Social Welfare Commissioner. The deadline for these submissions is firm, as no extensions will be granted. The college principals will verify applications to ensure that no student has previously applied for the same scholarship or free. The verified applications will be forwarded to the Social Welfare Commissioner by January 31, 2025.
The Social Welfare Commissioner has clarified that any misconduct related to the scholarship application process will rest solely on the principal's shoulders. Students who faced challenges securing scholarships from 2018-19 to 2023-24 are encouraged to take advantage of this chance to receive the financial support they need to further their education. As the deadline approaches, students are urged to gather the necessary documentation and act swiftly to ensure eligibility for these crucial scholarships.
