The Rajasthan Education Department suspended four teachers for gross negligence in the handling of answer sheets of the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) on grounds of serious breaches of confidentiality and evaluation procedure.

Suspensions were issued late on Monday by Ashish Modi, Director of the Education Directorate, Bikaner, on reports of mismanagement during the current evaluation process.

Two of them are from Alwar district, while the remaining two are from Didwana-Kuchaman region of Nagaur district of the state.

In Alwar, Omprakash Gai Saini, a senior math teacher at Government Higher Secondary School, Railway Station, is said to have left RBSE Secondary Examination answer sheets unattended in front of interns while evaluating.

In the meantime, Meenakshi Arora, another teacher of Hindi literature at the same school, is said to have clicked pictures of the open answer sheets and shared them with media houses.

Saini and Arora both have been suspended with immediate effect for violation of secrecy and neglect of duty. Saini will never grade answer sheets for the next three years.

They have been posted to the office of District Education Officer (DEO) in Alwar during their suspension.

In another case in Nagaur district, Bhanvruddin, an elderly Sanskrit teacher at Government Higher Secondary School, Bagot (Didwana-Kuchaman), roped in the services of colleague Pradeep Kumar Sharma of Government Higher Secondary School, Nimbari (Makrana) to complete marks on answer papers. Ironically, Sharma also got his father involved in this activity.

Both Sharma and Bhanvruddin have been suspended with effect from today for undermining the integrity of the evaluation process. They have been posted to the DEO office in Nagaur till suspension.

The Education Department reaffirmed the significance of confidentiality, transparency, and accountability in the board examination system and warned that firm action would go on against any violations.
