West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE), which is in charge of the Madhyamik exams, stopped about thirty-two candidates from taking the test earlier this week after discovering that they had brought cell phones inside the exam rooms.

32 candidates were disqualified for allegedly sharing images of their Madhyamik (Class 10 state board) exam papers on social media and WhatsApp after the examination started.

According to The Indian Express, the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE), which is in charge of the Madhyamik exams, stopped about thirty-two candidates from taking the test earlier this week after discovering that they had brought cell phones inside the exam rooms.

Question papers from the exams on February 2, 3, and 5 were found to be making the rounds on social media following their start. On the first day, two candidates were disqualified, and on the second, thirteen more. In addition, the Indian Express reported on Monday that nine pupils had been disqualified.

WBBSE President Ramanuj Ganguly visited five Madhyamik exam centres in Malda district on Tuesday. These included the two locations where the Bengali and English question papers that were leaked during the first two days of the board test were found. Later, he stated that eight pupils were eliminated from the exam because they were found to have contraband items, including smartwatches or iPhones, at the testing locations. On the fourth exam day, though, the question paper was nowhere to be available on social media.

Ganguly clarified that the presence of these devices does not imply that a test question was compromised. However, the Indian Express revealed that those seen using these gadgets during tests faced severe consequences due to the board's strict ban on carrying them into exam rooms.
