ARES Scholarship at Belgium has now invited applications for the intake 2026/27. It is a fully funded Europe scholarship for international professionals and students who can pursue specialized Bachelor's, Master's, and training courses at Belgian universities. The one-year specialized Bachelor's and Master's consist of training courses, which are six months in duration. This program is to specialize in skills and expertise related to development; it is not a course one takes throughout his/her life. ARES Scholarship is funded by the Government of Belgium, i.e., by the Federation of Wallonia-Brussels. The candidates must already possess a Bachelor's or Master's Degree. ARES International Training Scholarships hosted in Belgium is fully funded by Agency for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid (ARES). The deadline for this Short Training Courses, Specialized Bachelors and master's is 19th September 2025

A Short Information about the ARES International Training Scholarships

Do you already have a higher education degree? Do you need to gain some professional experience and further develop your capabilities in a field that contributes to world development?

Then the ARES scholarships are an excellent chance! You can apply for:

To be granted an advanced bachelor's or master's degree by studying for one year.

A brief training (two to six months) to further enrich your knowledge.

All of these programs are carried out at top higher education institutions in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation of Belgium. 

Number of Courses

. One Bachelor's Specialized Program.

. Ten Specialized Master's Programs.

. Six continuing training courses.

Eligibility Criteria

Be a resident, employee, and citizen of one of the 31 countries that are partner-eligible in ARES.

Possess a higher education diploma.

Be at least two years experienced in a professional role in an area related to an ARES partner country.

Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Haiti, Indonesia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Nepal, Niger, Peru, Philippines, Republic of Guinea (Conakry), Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, the Palestinian Territory, Tunisia, Uganda, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe.

List of documents to attach with an application for consideration:

2 academic and/or professional letters of recommendation

Certified copies of the original diplomas

Certified copy of the original transcript for all years

Proof of occupation for the previous 5 years

Certificate of nationality or photocopy of passport

Pre-project (for certain courses – please refer to course-specific admission requirements).

It is possible to apply for an ARES scholarship free of charge. Application can be obtained from the GIRAF platform on the internet. The following is how to apply:

Create an account in GIRAF: In case you do not have one, create an account in Giraf and have it verified by ARES.

Obtaining the Application Form

Log in to Giraf

Navigate to "Application for international training"

Visit "My tasks"

Submit an application for competitive calls in order to obtain the form

Filling in and Sending in the Application

Complete the application form

You can save and re-submit the form several times before actually submitting

When you are ready, click on the "Submit my application" button

Post Submission

You'll see the submitted file in "My submitted files"
