Applications are now open at Vital Impacts for its Environmental Photography Grants 2025 and photographers from around the world are encouraged to apply with grants available up to $20,000. The grant program, which incorporates financial assistance with mentorship, is intended to empower visual journalists to draw attention to grassroots environmental causes in their home communities.
The initiative aims to empower local news organizations and galvanize international awareness by shedding light on solutions-based projects based in communities. Applicants should emphasize long-term environmental issues and solutions, along with trust and relationships with the most impacted communities.
The grants are available to photographers with or without prior experience of publication. It is presented in English or local language, with translation assistance to ensure participation from all areas. Citizens of countries under embargo are excluded. The applicants must comply with the Vital Impacts Code of Ethics and agree to the Environmental Grant Agreement. Recipient photographers and previous applicants are invited to reapply.
Core themes of the project include conservation storylines of solutions, visual storytelling engaging public conversation, and chronicling both problematics and community solutions to environmental problems.
In enabling photographers in the field, Vital Impacts aims to present authentic voices continually absent within international environmental reporting. Winning projects that are funded won't only be funded but also guided by industry professionals, making sure that their projects find their way to more platforms and individuals.
