The Western Command is sponsoring the education of 15 students from low-income families in the border areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
This effort aims to provide educational opportunities to children from remote villages, fostering development and support in these underserved regions.
The selected group comprises five girls and ten boys, all admitted to classes VI to VIII at the Army Public School in Beas, near Jalandhar. The sponsorship covers their education and boarding facilities until they complete Class XII, ensuring a stable and supportive learning environment.
One of the sponsored boys, hailing from Jammu district, faced the loss of his father at a young age. His mother, a widow, works as an ASHA worker in an anganwadi centre. Another beneficiary is a girl from a village in the Saida tehsil of Kathua district, where her father earns a living as a daily wage laborer.
This initiative by the Western Command underscores its commitment to supporting the education and welfare of children in border areas, providing them with opportunities to build a better future.
