Currently, only 6,200 of these students are in the process of being enrolled through the DoE's NIOS portal. This initiative aims to mitigate the risk of these students dropping out of school.

The Directorate of Education (DoE) has mandated that government schools enrol students who have failed Class IX twice into the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) for the 2024-25 academic year. According to the DoE's Computer Cell, 17,308 students were unsuccessful in passing Class IX for the second time in the 2023-24 session, as reported by PTI.

Currently, only 6,200 of these students are in the process of being enrolled through the DoE's NIOS portal. This initiative aims to mitigate the risk of these students dropping out of school.

The circular highlights that students who fail twice are at significant risk of leaving their education incomplete. To counter this, government school principals must provide guidance and counselling to these students and their parents, stressing the importance of continuing their education through NIOS.

This strategy allows students to learn at their own pace and select subjects that interest them, aiming to reintegrate them into their original schools after completing Class X.

The directive, approved by the relevant authority, reinforces the Directorate of Education's dedication to helping all students achieve their educational aspirations, as stated in the circular reported by PTI.
