President Droupadi Murmu's scheduled attendance at the convocation ceremony of Symbiosis University in Lavale on July 29 has been deferred owing to persistent heavy rainfall in the area. Consequently, the convocation ceremony itself has also been postponed.

The university released a statement expressing regret over the postponement, explaining that the President’s visit to Maharashtra from July 28 to 30 has been rescheduled due to ongoing severe weather conditions. The Department of Disaster Management of Maharashtra advised caution because of continuous rainfall and the subsequent release of water from dams. Thus, the university found it necessary to make the difficult decision to postpone the convocation ceremony planned for July 29, as mentioned in a report by Free Press Journal.

The statement further highlighted that considering the current weather conditions and forecasts predicting further adverse weather, this decision prioritizes the safety of students and their families. The university emphasized that its primary concern is ensuring everyone's well-being amidst the unfavourable weather conditions.

In preparation for the President's visit, vehicular traffic had been rerouted, and restrictions were placed on using drones, paragliders, balloons, and remote-controlled aircraft from midnight on July 28 to midnight on July 29. Schools in Lavale were also instructed to close for the visit. With the postponement of the President's visit, these directives must be adjusted accordingly.

This postponement underscores the need for caution and safety in light of the severe weather affecting the region and the university's commitment to the well-being of its community.
