Congress MLA Yennam Srinivas Reddy has condemned the previous BRS government for allegedly neglecting the education sector in Telangana. Reddy charged that the BRS administration favoured liquor sales over educational advancements, leading to inadequate funding, poor school infrastructure, and unmet educational objectives.
Reddy's criticism was pointed out during a debate on the state budget in the State Assembly. He accused the previous government of failing to deliver essential school infrastructure, including permanent buildings and proper sanitation facilities. According to Reddy, these shortcomings have contributed to a troubling dropout rate of 36% among 10th-grade students, highlighting a significant barrier to educational attainment in the state.
The Congress MLA stressed the urgent need for the current government to realign its priorities and focus on educational reforms. He called for immediate measures to address school infrastructure deficiencies and advance the government's ambitious education goals. These goals include implementing compulsory education from Kindergarten to Post-Graduation (KG to PG) in every mandal and district, a policy Reddy believes is crucial for the state's educational progress.
