Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan addressed recent allegations that the Preamble of the Constitution has been removed from NCERT textbooks for 3rd and 6th grades.

Pradhan refuted these claims in a statement on Tuesday. He emphasized that the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has, for the first time, given significant emphasis to various constitutional elements under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2024. He highlighted that textbooks now include the Preamble, Fundamental Duties, Fundamental Rights, and the National Anthem, reflecting a comprehensive approach to teaching constitutional values.

Pradhan's comments came in response to news reports suggesting that the Preamble had been omitted from specific textbooks. He criticized the Congress party for allegedly politicizing the issue, accusing them of spreading misinformation about the Indian education system. Pradhan argued that the Congress’s actions demonstrate a lack of respect for India's development and education, attributing their stance to an outdated ideology. He further asserted that Congress’s historic opposition to constitutional values undermines its current claims of supporting the Constitution.

The Minister urged the Congress party to stop using education as a political tool and to focus on understanding the NEP and constitutional principles. Pradhan’s remarks underscore the ongoing debate over educational reforms and the representation of constitutional values in school curricula.
