In response to relentless heavy rainfall and worsening flood conditions across Gujarat, the state government has ordered the closure of all primary schools on August 29 as a precautionary measure. Gujarat State Education Minister Praful Pansheriya made the announcement, emphasising the need to ensure the safety of students during the ongoing crisis.
The torrential rains have caused significant disruption in multiple districts, including Valsad, Tapi, Navsari, Surat, Narmada, and Panchmahal. Floodwaters have displaced hundreds of residents, destroyed property, and created hazardous conditions throughout the region. Particularly tragic are the events in Morbi, where 17 people have drowned and seven others remain missing, prompting ongoing search and rescue operations.
As per Times of India reports, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has pledged full support from the central government to help Gujarat manage the situation. Efforts are being coordinated between state and national authorities to provide relief and assist those affected by the flooding. The immediate focus remains on rescue operations and the distribution of essential supplies to displaced families.
