The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) has joined hands with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to launch a new internship initiative aimed at providing practical learning opportunities for undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students across India.

The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Nitin Sharma, Executive Director of NHIDCL, and Dr. Buddha Chandrasekhar, Chief Coordinating Officer of AICTE.

Dr. Krishan Kumar, Managing Director of NHIDCL, introduced an online portal for the Internship Programme, designed to offer students exposure to the field of infrastructure development. The initiative will primarily target students from the North-Eastern Region and Union Territories such as Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, aiming to broaden their learning experiences and provide them with real-world knowledge of the sector.

The MoU between NHIDCL and AICTE is set to remain effective for five years. As part of the collaboration, AICTE will provide the necessary technical support for the online portal, while NHIDCL will oversee the operational and non-technical management of the programme. The initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance skill development and provide greater career opportunities for students across the country.

The partnership reflects the commitment of both organisations to foster national goals of skill development and expand internship and job opportunities for students, particularly those from underserved regions. By facilitating hands-on learning experiences, the programme aims to better equip students for the growing demands of the infrastructure and development sectors.
